At just 18 years old, Matt Richards became an Olympic gold medalist in the 4x200m Freestyle relay at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, marking the beginning of an exceptional swimming career. He was the third youngest Olympic champion in British history, Since then, he has continued to dominate in the pool, earning multiple international medals, including individual gold at the 2023 World Championships and European Short Course Championships.
Matt was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2022 for his services to swimming, including being a motivational speaker who shares his experiences to inspire others to pursue excellence and on themes like perseverance and teamwork. Matt is also known for his 509 Swim Clinics, which he named after his British swimming number. He visits schools to inspire the next generation of swimmers.Now 21, Matt holds several British Records and is only just beginning to reach his full potential in the world of swimming. His impressive achievements at such a young age highlight his talent and determination.
